SIEPR Sr Fellow Nicholas Bloom—co-author of an analysis of the pandemic’s effects on the labor market—estimates that 42% of recent layoffs will result in permanent job losses.

SIEPR Sr Fellow Nicholas Bloom, who has done extensive research on decentralized work, said he anticipates that the number of remote jobs will more than double after the pandemic.

“I hate to say it, but this is going to take longer and look grimmer than we thought,” said SIEPR Senior Fellow Nicholas Bloom, remarking on the path to economic recovery.

“The challenge is to manage [conflicts of interest involving scientific experts] appropriately [...]," says SIEPR Senior Fellow Joseph Grundfest.
